"Green Car" Movement: The Gator gets new skin

I've always loved the bright orange and green colors of Porsche's GT3 RS.  I had seen a few Cayman S Sport limited editions a few years back that used those same colors, but those cars are hard to find.  So, having had a good experience with the vinyl wrap done on my daughter's car, I decided to give my 2007 Cayman S a new look.  I just picked it up yesterday from the talented guys at Vinyl Styles in San Carlos, CA, who wrapped it using Avery brand vinyl in high gloss Grass Green.  I also had the Fikse wheels powder coated in gloss black. I'm still deciding whether or not to add the side script "Cayman S" in the same way Porsche did on the stock Sport editions. Good thing this is primarily my track car, because when I do drive it on the street, I think the police won't miss any minor infractions.

  2. Let's talk about that 1988-ish 911(930 series) you have sitting there

    1. Good eye, CJ ! That baby is a 1986 930 (aka 911 turbo) with 80K original miles that I picked up in 2009. The market was very soft for those cars and my view was that once it hit 30 years old, it would start to appreciate just as many desirable high-performance cars do around a that same age. I was right, although not because of my specific insight, but because all air-cooled Porsches have been running up! I'll have to write a blog post dedicated to that car, as it is one of my favorite designs of all time and one of the first cars I decided to get once I wanted to start a small collection.

    3. Yes, I had a 1976 S in my younger days (1980's) and I loved it but my best friend was sick so I had to sell it to buy a truck and move to CA. Wanted to get another one but the market went crazy recenlty and it feels like a bubble. Glad you got yours at the right time. The wife and I went to Germany several months back to do the Porsche Factory tour in Stuttgart,...

  3. Oh, by the way; I'm pretty local to you live/work (and have been recently thinking about an Aston Martin V8 Vantage) Would you be willing to let me talk with you re: ownership issues i.e. your best/trusted mechanics, general things to look for, pre-purchase inspection trusted source,... I don't have any experience with Aston so I'd appreciate getting some knowledge share from you if you don't mind.
